1930 ✳ 2030 / A CENTURY IN THE MAKING

01 / THE BIG IDEA

A grocery store
is made of aisles.
A legacy is made
of lives.

Hy-Vee's story has never been only about groceries.

It is the farmer who plants before sunrise. The employee owner who knows a customer by name. The neighbors who step forward when a community needs help. The families whose traditions are part of the food they share.

As Hy-Vee approaches its 100th anniversary in 2030, an extraordinary opportunity is taking shape: to celebrate those people through exceptional original art—and make that art an active, enduring part of the brand.

It begins in a small Iowa town

THE REAL PLACEBEACONSFIELD, IOWA
02 / THE PLACE WHERE IT BEGAN

A modest brick building. A monumental story.

It started
here.

In 1930, Charles Hyde and David Vredenburg began operating the Beaconsfield Supply Store. A century later, the business that grew from that humble beginning touches communities across the Midwest.

The original building still stands. And as preservation efforts move forward, its story deserves more than a plaque. It deserves an experience that can make people feel what began here.

THE SIGNATURE CONCEPT / AN ARTISTIC VISION

Preserve the place.
Make the story unforgettable.

THE BEACONSFIELD ARTWORK

Not an exhibit
about a company.
An experience
about its people.

01

Where the story began

The founders, the first store, the growers and families who made a neighborhood business possible.

02

The people who carried it forward

Generations of employee owners, community relationships, fresh food and moments of everyday service.

03

What we pass on

Young people, strong communities and the promise that a helpful smile can keep making a difference.

The interior is an illustrative artistic direction. Any installation would be developed with the property stewards, preservation architect and Hy-Vee, subject to approvals and the building's restoration plan.

03 / THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE PROMISE

Every face
is a story.

What if the people who make Hy-Vee remarkable became the faces of its art?

Not stock imagery. Not anonymous figures in an ad. Real growers, employee owners, families and community builders—listened to, celebrated and rendered with the care their stories deserve.

Destination-worthy artwork for historic spaces, flagship stores and community sites—creating places worth visiting, photographing and remembering.

Every artwork can generate portraits, stories, behind-the-scenes films, reproductions and campaign-ready creative that extends beyond an individual unveiling.

Honor people in a way that feels personal and earned—providing new material for recruiting, recognition, local sourcing and internal communications.

Collaborate with existing community initiatives through exhibitions, educational experiences, benefit artwork and thoughtful public engagement.

Build a coherent body of original work ahead of 2030—then continue using the stories and artwork long after the anniversary celebration ends.

ONE CREATIVE INVESTMENT.
ART + STORY + EXPERIENCE + COMMUNITY = ENDURING VALUE.
05 / THE OPPORTUNITY
A FULL-TIME CREATIVE ROLE

Not simply an artist
Hy-Vee commissions.
An artist who is
part of Hy-Vee.

A dedicated Corporate Artist & Brand Ambassador could bring an uncommon combination of artistry, brand thinking and institutional continuity to Hy-Vee.

With a full-time commitment and an agreed annual creative plan, this position would conceive and deliver original works, discover and preserve human stories, collaborate with Hy-Vee's marketing and community teams, and develop valuable secondary uses for the artwork.

This is a proposal for full-time employment with appropriate compensation, benefits, production resources and executive alignment—not a pilot engagement or a request for a single mural commission.

THE NEXT CHAPTER ISN'T WRITTEN YET.
